Though I post this for the enjoyment of my friends, it is primarily to discredit the claims of one
Evolutionxbox who publicly accused me of lying to the point that my
Avatar piece was not a digital painting as I had claimed but was in fact a photo-manipulation that I was fraudulently taking credit for. It is fortunate for me that I took the time to save snapshots of the piece's completion to validate my claims. As previously stated to him and others, I absolutely used reference photos of the actors in order to capture their likeness for the piece.
Evolutionxbox, I have saved you the trouble of finding the other refs and included them on the bottom as well as the composition ref I based on an unused book cover design I created years ago. You asked how the painting could so perfectly match the actors without it being a photo-manip and the answer is very simple--practice. Thousands upon thousands of hours of practice.
I await your public apology evolutionxbox.
UPDATE: Evolutionxbox has honorably apologized and I request you, my friends, to think him in a better light and not longer feel the need to demean his actions.
I love the end result; how loose and painterly the strokes are but you still instantly recognize the characters.
Nicely done , bravo
