Artist's Comments

This is the second piece in my "Lords of.." series. Each piece is about a single character who is mythic/fantasy inspired. The design for this character (Neo Madonna) had been lying around a long time but I never did anything with it until I started this series and the two ideas came together nicely. I wanted to blend some of the elements of the classic Madonna paintings into the piece by keeping it realistic and symmetrical (among others). I painted it in Photoshop off and on over the past couple of weeks.
Thanks to bobbistock here on deviantart for the photo that sparked the idea for the pose and face. [link]

Beautiful work! The skin is so realistic. I love how the warm glow from the book is reflected in her face, but her chest and hands have a cool tint. Thats amazing to me.

You did a wonderful job on this! :+favlove:

This is a beautiful transformation from the original stock photograph.

Not doubting your originality, what parts were "painted" in as opposed to "manipulated" or "pasted"?
:icondamascus5:
There was no photo manipulation or pasting, just old-fashioned art skills. All of it was painted by hand in Photoshop using standard and custom brushes (no, I didn't paint over the photo). I used the stock photo as an idea for the pose, which I changed the hands and book on and as the basis for the face. I altered the face also due to some distortion from the short camera distance from the model and I just wanted her to have a little different look. I have progression snapshots if you'd like to see them.
Thanks for coming by and I'm glad you like the piece. Cheers

Congratulations then on your skills and talent - genuine compliment.

I would be interested in the progression shots - not that I don't believe you :-) but more to see the technical process .

I am just a humble photo-manipulator and lack the ability to paint from reference.

The internet was meant for the free exchange of information and debate. The reality is merely a forum for obscure niche jokes. Al Gore would be pissed.
